The pieces I'm drawn to lately aren't the perfect untouched collector's examples, but those which have collected their patina from a full life.
Whether they began as a one-off studio craft piece, or as a carefully detailed production piece, their true beauty is now the variation in color, the wear pattern, or even the graffiti they carry with them. I love how fresh rope on the Kipp Stewart lounges sets off the rich blue-green patina of the frames. And new upholstery on the Gio Ponti headboard accentuates the wear on the switches and
lighters. Once you get to know all the little details on one of these items, it feels like an old friend.
